Process Tool Desktop Refactoring (Alias)

My role

Desktop architecture, Lua workflow migration, and local-data boundary design

Starting point

Critical work depended on scattered scripts known by a few people, while sensitive data could not be moved to a cloud service.

Problem to solve

Original Lua script tools lacked a graphical interface, were hard to maintain, had high onboarding cost, and could not meet offline-ready requirements for sensitive data scenarios.

Constraints

  • Existing Lua logic and operating habits had to be preserved
  • Sensitive data had to remain local
  • Client interfaces and business data cannot be disclosed

Key decisions and implementation

Used Tauri to refactor core logic into a cross-platform desktop application, combining script orchestration to build a locally controlled, auditable operations tool environment.

Delivered results

  • Turned command-line scripts into an operable desktop interface
  • Enabled cross-platform deployment and offline use
  • Sensitive data processed entirely locally
  • Documented script mapping, exceptions, and operating steps

Publishable evidence

  • Working Tauri desktop application
  • Lua migration and invocation mapping
  • Local-data and exception-handling notes

Evidence and confidentiality boundary

Commercial delivery project, only technical approach and improvement direction are disclosed.

Additional context

The value was not simply “making a desktop app,” but turning personal script knowledge into an operable, inspectable, and transferable workflow.

Clarify the problem before deciding whether development is needed.
